Gastric Sleeve Surgery in Ireland

Auralia Weight Loss Clinic is proud to offer patients multiple weight loss options, rather than just one! We provide patients with the option of gastric balloon surgery, gastric band surgery and gastric sleeve surgery.
The gastric sleeve is speedily gaining in popularity over the last number of years, for patients intending to lose large amounts of weight. This is due to the expected weight loss with a gastric sleeve (more than 7 stone), along with the fact that the necessary after-care with a gastric sleeve is extremely minimal. Whilst all of our patients are entitled to unlimited appointments, whenever they wish with our weight loss team, along with 24/7 support, a gastric sleeve after-care program gives patients more flexibility than the after-care program of a gastric band.
Whilst gastric bands require several adjustment’s over time, gastric sleeves don’t. From day one, gastric sleeve patients will only be able to eat a very small amount, meaning that weight loss with a gastric sleeve is usually faster than a gastric band or a gastric balloon.
Another huge advantage of a gastric sleeve is that patients actually feel less hungry than any other weight loss procedure. The reason for this is quite simple. The section of stomach which is removed during the procedure is actually the section of stomach which produces a hormone called Ghrelin. Ghrelin is otherwise known as the “hunger hormone”, as it’s what makes you feel hungry. Removing this means that the patients natural appetite is substantially decreased right away.
For patients in Ireland considering a gastric sleeve, our advice would be to stick with a provider which carries out the procedures in Ireland! Unfortunately, there are cases where patients travel abroad for these procedures, only to come into difficulty after the procedure and then finding themselves stranded without any way of getting back to the medical facility to have it fixed. Staying at home for this procedure is simply far safer! Whilst risks with weight loss procedures are minimal, we believe that patients should do all within their power to minimise them further.
